Welcome to Westminster's Only Producer Only Farmers Market!

If you find it here, it's grown here.

This is what 'producer only' means.  By shopping with us, you can be sure that you are buying products that were locally grown and produced.  You may not find watermelons or corn in May, but this may very well be the only drawback to our form of marketing.  In exchange for waiting until these items come into season in north central Maryland, you will get:

*The freshest produce available, because it just was picked and not shipped long distances.
*The satisfaction of supporting local farmers (preserving ag land and food security).
*Many organic and natural produce, meat, and cheese options.
*To know your farmers and make inquiries into specific growing practices, varieties, and other things you'd like to know about your food.

Our Market focuses on locally grown food and farm produced items.  No, you won't find many crafts, but we hope you do go home with your ingredients for fresh, healthy meals for the week.  From veggies to fruits, cheese to meat, we are working hard to bring you the freshest, healthiest food available.

Where are we?

You can find us at the Conaway Municipal Parking Lot on Route 27, approximately 2 blocks North of the intersection of Main Street and Rt 27 in Downtown Westminster.  We are open on Saturdays, May 30th through November 21st, from 8 am to 12 pm.   For detailed directions, contact Stan Ruchlewicz, SRuchlewicz@westgov.com.

Market Updates

We had a successful opening day last Saturday!  Thanks to all who came out and supported the market.  Especially exciting was the new coffee vendor, 'For the Birds', featuring organic, shade grown, fair trade coffee in compostable cups!  They also sell coffee by the pound, so be sure to get your coffee here as it is the most sustainable way to go.  Also, we welcome 'The Farmer's Daughter' with delectable cinnamon buns and country bread.

Next week,  Hawks Hill Creamery will make their debut at our market with their delicious cheeses.  Be sure to plan to get you cheese for the week from them!

Check out our Events Calendar, we have a nice line up of music and educational demos scheduled for 2009.

Don't forget to pick up a Simply In Season Cookbook or The Simply In Season Kids Cookbook at the market for $20.00 each.  They are a great resource for simple, healthy meals to be made with your farmers market finds.  Proceeds benefit the market's improvement.

Learn to use all the fresh, seasonal produce you get at the market!  These fantastic cookbooks compile wonderfully simple recipes according to the four seasons of harvest.  Also look for reflective quotes and antecdotes regarding food.

The children's version takes kids into the garden, out to harvest, and back into the kitchen with wonderful information about different vegetables and great recipes designed for them to do it themselves.  Fosters an appreciation of where food comes from - a most valuable resource.  Lots of fun facts about veggies, too.
